## Captain Jack\'s Adventure Report: Long Island Sound - October 3, 2025 **Ahoy, fellow adventurers! Captain Jack here with your latest report from the beautiful Long Island Sound!** If you\'re like me and love exploring all the amazing fishing opportunities our Sound has to offer, you\'re in for a treat! The fall bite is absolutely fantastic right now, with a wonderful variety of species keeping our lines tight and our spirits high. **Porgies, Weakfish, and Sea Bass Galore!** Get ready for some serious action! Porgies are everywhere, and the fishing for them is excellent across the entire Sound. From New Rochelle to Port Jefferson, Miller Place, Mattituck, and even around Cranes Neck and the Middle Grounds, you can expect to fill your coolers. And guess what? Sea bass are right there with them, especially around those favorite wrecks and reefs. For bait, worms, clams, and squid are doing the trick beautifully. The weakfish bite is also incredible, with plenty of quality fish being caught outside bays and harbors. They\'re responding well to soft plastics and jigs, particularly during tidal changes. **Fluke Still Kicking!** Even though we\'re heading deeper into fall, there are still some nice fluke to be found! Reports indicate that some doormat fluke are exiting the back bays along the South Shore, and you might even find some around Buoy 11 and heading west towards the East River. OnTheWater.com also notes doormat fluke exiting the back bays along the South Shore. Focus on deeper channels and any structure you can find. **Striped Bass on the Move!** Our beloved striped bass are getting more active as the water cools. While they might be a bit more elusive during the day, try targeting them at night in places like Manhasset Bay, especially on the bottom of the tide. Live spot, bucktails, and plugs are proving effective. Keep an eye out for any signs of baitfish, as the stripers won\'t be far behind! **Water Conditions:** The water temperature 30 NM South of Islip, NY, is around 68.5°F, which means the Sound is still holding plenty of warmth to keep these fish active and feeding. The stable barometric pressure also means consistent fish behavior, so you can plan your trips with confidence. **Your Next Adventure Awaits!** Whether you\'re chasing a limit of porgies, battling a big weakfish, or hoping for a surprise striper, Long Island Sound has it all right now. So, gather your crew, pack your gear, and get out there to enjoy the diverse and exciting fishing that awaits! Tight lines and fair seas!
