# Captain Tony's NYC Harbor Report - October 3, 2025

Alright, folks, Captain Tony here, your retired FDNY urban fishing veteran, with the latest from the concrete jungle's waterways! After 40+ years fishing these waters, I've got the intel you need from Battery Park all the way up to Haverstraw, including the East River and the mighty NY Harbor.

## NYC Harbor & East River Highlights

The **albie run** continues strong off Montauk, and while that's a bit east for our usual stomping grounds, it's a good sign of active pelagic fish in the region. Closer to home, **weakfish** are thick from the Sound to the South Shore, and we're seeing more **doormat fluke** as they exit the back bays. The water temperatures are dropping, and the fishing is improving daily, with tons of **peanut bunker** around, which is always a good sign for hungry predators.

## Recent Activity (October 2, 2025)

According to the latest reports, the fishing has been consistent. We're seeing good action for various species, and the cooler weather is definitely getting the fish more active. Keep an eye on the bait schools; where there's bait, there are fish.

## Tactical Recommendations

For those targeting **stripers** and **bluefish** in the harbor, focus on areas with strong current breaks and structure. Live bait, especially peanut bunker if you can net them, will be key. For **fluke**, work the edges of channels and deeper holes with bucktails and Gulp! baits. The weakfish are still around, so light tackle with soft plastics or small jigs can be very effective, especially around dusk and dawn.

Remember, patience and persistence are your best friends in these urban waters. Tight lines, and stay safe out there!
