Captain's Table - Biscuit Time

I had Cindy and her friends join me for a half day Sea Bass charter yesterday under much more comfortable weather conditions. Finally, a break from the heat and humidity!

The big challenge was the screaming full moon tide. We arrived on my favorite drop north of Plum the typical hour before slack water that normally allows us to begin fishing almost immediately. However. Mother Nature had different ideas and we had difficulty holding bottom with even 12 oz. sinkers until the dead slack water time. However, as soon as the current backed off the Biscuits began to bite. First some smalls but then as the ebb just started to take hold the bigger fish started coming. We only had an hour to catch well before the ebb tide blew us off. But the crew managed to take 10 mice keepers to 3.5# among many more throwbacks and a handful of Porgies.

I am looking forward to the next week’s softer tides to do some serious damage on the Sea Bass population. Plus, we have another Montauk Fluke run scheduled for next Friday. Sure hope the weather cooperates!
