Captains Table- More Bass, Fewer Blues

Today I looked at the weekend forecast and realized my Sat charter would have to be rescheduled. Then I thought about the fact that my wife’s favorite fish to eat is Striped Bass and I looked at the east winds forecast for Friday plus considered the steady Bass bite I already enjoyed this week on the full moon. Only one thing to do this morning but go fishing! I worked the same stage of the tide once again and my results were similar to Monday’s solo tip. I landed 8 Bass this morning for a 3-hour effort but 3 of the fish were fat 30-32” keepers (ORL). Looking back, I find it interesting that on Monday I did not land a single Blue, yesterday the charter guys landed 8, and today it was back to nearly all Bass with just a single Blue. All three trips focused on the same stage of the tide so I guess it goes to show you never know what you will encounter when you droop your rig into the depths!

I am sure we are all hoping to salvage the Holiday weekend with a fishable day on Monday. I would hate to disappoint another charter crew with a reschedule, especially while the Bass bite is strong.

Let’s make the best of the weatherman’s curve ball. And of course, keep a special thought for all those great Patriots we should be remembering on this special holiday.
