Some breezy weather last week had us confined to the bay for a string of 3 half day trips. Dating back to last Sunday, 8/18, Max’s party of 4 had a great time bending the rods on assorted species in the bay including plenty of Scup. Kevin boated the nicest surprise of the day with the season’s first Triggerfish.
The following Thursday was back to the solid scup action for Cathy’s crew of 4 with about a dozen Porgy culled from the steady action including John’s nice 3.5# Weakfish to top the catch.
Friday’s trip had John and his 8 y/o Granddaughter Evy on only her second fishing trip ever. With the constant Porgy action, she quickly exceeded her lifetime catch total in just this single morning, boating about a dozen pretty Scup all on her own. Other friends and family members got in on the action as well.
Looking forward to the move to September as the Sea Bass bag limits increase to 6pp. The action in the eastern LI Sound has been very good whenever the conditions allow so I am looking to fill several freezers. Why not make one of them yours? All you need to do is give me a call!
