anyone have any experience with them or any other car warranty company? Warranty has expired on my VW & I'm looking.

meant to say my warranty is good for 100K, I have a while to go before that concern, 5 years... anyway You shouldnt worry bout breakdowns and extra warranty cost, just SELL some of those EL shares and it will be all good... cellfish...

I had one of those off market warranties years ago. Problem was after mechanic diagnosed the problem, the warranty co. Had to send an inspector. After inspection, they would submit their diagnosis and finally agree. Process would take 4-5 days for a problem that could have been fixed in a few hours.

Things might be different now but I just opt for a 3yr extension on my warranties through dealer. I usually get a new car ever 7th year.

With all electronics and the problems they have in the newer cars I always take the extended warranty from the dealer so far I’ve used it twice and already paid for itself and what I would’ve had to pay if I had to pay out of pocket
Yes, I've starting taking them out also because it's the electronics that are the problem. Most newer cars are mechanically sound, but those $1000 boards love to suddenly go kapooie, stopping you dead in your tracks...

I normally do but for some reason didn't this time around.

Bought my new ford diesel pick up in 2016 I really forget the numbers but shopped around on line & saved $800 on extended warranty from an out of state ford dealer, same ford part number, selling dealer refused to match it. Checked with selling dealer service Dept couple days later & it was in the computer. Used it for new radiator which would have been over $2,500 without warranty..........John

Extended warranty from the dealer can be sold with the vehicle or you can be reimbursed for the unused portion of your warranty should you choose to cancel.

I just remember I had the Geico mechanical breakdown insurance and it was a hassle every time I had a claim. This was circa 1998.

They wanted to see the broken down part. Once my hubs went on a 92 explorer. The hubs are sealed. They wouldn't allow the claim until the mechanic remounted the hubs and took them for a test drive.

Like I said a real pita.

Your mechanic went about it all wrong or did he? either way you didnt have to pay right?

So - assuming VW accepts Car Sheild - it's good coverage to have if I'm unable to get VW to reinstate the VW warranty?

Those old Explorers 4x4 were "shift on the fly" but that would always result in a big clunking noise. The hub internals were plastic. Garbage. Mechanic took the hubs off thinking it was a no brainer. I guess not. put them back on for the inspection and test drive.

They replaced the hubs but it took a week to get approved.........Funny thing is, they didnt inspect a bad condenser but they wanted to inspect hubs...........

The warranty was for 100K miles........Paid $800 in 1993. probably saved $4-6K on repairs. got my moneys worth!

So it all worked out good for you and your mechanic?

Until we replaced SWMBO's 2014 Crosstrek with a 2019, we often bought the extended warranty which always ended up being a waste of money, maybe just piece of mind. and, until this car, we almost always kept a car over ten years when the warranties all expired anyway. I am thinking like R7 said that I should have gotten the extended this time around with all the electronics now in them. Is it too late ? I CERTAINLY GET CALLS EVERY DAY ABOUT EXTENDED WARRANTIES LOL !!

Call your dealer and ask them

It all worked out.

I have a 2021 Subaru Forester limited. Took me some time to learn everything. Vehicle even has facial recognition!

Far cry from my 1999 Yukon but I loved that truck.
