I lost my favorite put-in, practically walking distance from my home but its a town boat ramp so blocked off now. Unsure if a certain kayak launch beach two miles away has been gated or not. I haven't put in during April or November in many many years (mainly due to nothing but schoolies or shorts and deer hunting during the rut) but am a bit concerned I will just get more and more out of shape before I finally can paddle around here again.

What about the Kayak launch by the Jones Beach fishing piers? I think they call it Field 10. There is also a launch site at the Short Beach Boat Basin by the Coast Guard station on the west end.

True, but since they are both state I am fairly certain that they were quick to close. I would be surprised if the state didn't cordon off all the slips at the Boat Basin as well. Besides, having made it to 69 and nine years retired, I have no death wish. Even though my kayak is a bright orange, along with my PFD and flag, I would rather go fishless than chance being run over by the Donzis and Sea Rays going down Sloop Channel like a bat out of hell.

I think this may also impact the small bait and tackle shops. I wonder how many will not survive this prolonged closure. Many would be making income from people tying rigs, buying GULP, Bucktails, rods and reels and buying bait.

I remember R&R Bait and Tackle in NWP, Ralph and his son didn't survive the NYC reservoirs being closed after 9/11.
Damn shame.
