CT, MA and VA want credit if they voluntarily cut back as a new Addendum is drawn up on Striped Bass

Hello NY Anglers,

Watch out folk's as you're about to see the biggest threat to our spring bass fishery yet, as these states urge the commission to do more to protect the spawn. These are the same states that fished the max allowed under asmfc guidelines while we fished at 1/2 of what was allowed. That's the thanks we get for taking a voluntary cut all of these years. I say if they're so worried about striped bass than they should immediately get in line with how we've been fishing for years now. 1-fish at 28-inches.

If the commission is going to give them credit then NY should get credit for our conservative practices since the start of the rebuilding of this fishery. We protect our fishery - it's the reason that the Hudson stock is in such fine shape. Get your states in line with us and let us see how the fishery looks in a few years.

We have always tried to lead by example here in NY and it's about time we're recognized that no one gives a crap. They're all going to take every single fish they can.

This move really ticks me off!

Don't hold your breath George for credit from ASFMC. Yes, we're a pimple on the Bass Harvest Azz, but Maine has been using circle hooks for bass and bluefish bait fishing since 2013 and has limited lures to no more than 2 treble hooks since then also. Guess how much credit ASFMC has given us for those measures??? Yup, Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah!!

Regrettably NJ has shown us the best path with ASFMC. Ignore the rules, do what you want, and then appeal to NOAA... Yeah, the cynic in me is in full "ON" mode today.
