Cycles

Had to bring in my truck today for the air bag recall. ( I guess the manufacturers lost hope that I and others would either be killed by Takata or the older vehicles would no longer be on the road, that they would rather pay off the widows than recall millions of vehicles.) Anyway, just spent the last hour researching my fishing logs dating back on this PC to just 2011. Since I have caught more weaks this year (all off the yak) than I had since the late 90s and very early 2000s, I discovered that in my case, whether using Gulp or livelining small snappers later in the summers, that along with fluke, I either caught weakfish or bluefish (we're talking backbay fish of under 4 lbs.) but usually not both. In the early 2010s, I caught weaks along with fluke, and then in the mid to late teens, 2016 to 2018, it was mostly fluke with cocktails and small blues and virtually no weaks. Since then its been weaks along with the occasional fluke, with blues being a rarity. (Same goes for my October November surfcasting as the last three years have shown keeper and short stripers and no bluefish. "They" have always said that weakfish are cyclic, and I know that if I located my logs for my 1999 boat (before I started kayak fishing a half dozen years later) that for three or four years summer weaks were around than not. Are bluefish going to be considered a cyclic "catch" as well ?
