Marine Permit Office: Operating by Mail or Appointment Only
During the current COVID-19 public health crisis, DEC's Marine Permit Office (MPO) will be operating with reduced staffing levels.
We encourage customers to mail applications and call or email with any questions, rather than coming in person. If customers must come in person they should make an appointment. The MPO can be reached at 631-444-0470 or [email protected].
Commercial Tautog Tagging Program Suspended
Due to the public health emergency for the COVID-19 virus, the Commercial Tautog Tagging Program is temporarily suspended until further notice.
Food fish permit holders are encouraged to continue to submit their Tag Order Form Requests to DEC during this time to expedite order fulfillment once possible. When the Governor’s Emergency Directives are lifted, DEC will complete processing of all received orders and restore the program’s operation. DEC will provide further details and updated information as it becomes available.
DEC encourages all questions about the tagging program to be sent by email to [email protected]. Phone access is presently limited, though you can call (631) 444-0469 and we will return your call as soon as possible. Your patience is appreciated during this time.
Canceled: Marine Resources Advisory Council Meeting
In response to the public health emergency for the COVID-19 virus, the upcoming Marine Resources Advisory Council (MRAC) meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 24, 2020, is canceled.
The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, April 21st. Visit DEC's website for more details as they're made available.
