Dock Swim Ladder Recommendations???

For any of you that have a swim ladder off of a floating dock I wonder if anyone has used some of the plastic "swing" ladders?

My "high quality" aluminum one that extends is showing signs of corrosion on the steps after 5 seasons and needs to replaced. We need a swinging one of 3-4 steps because of the tidal range and because of the corrosion on the current one, I'm thinking to go plastic.

Don't do it !! That is of of course everyone that is going to use it is less than lets say 120#. Stainless ones are good and yes even aluminum. 5456 is good quality. 5052 if it's annealed or 5754. Even 6061 will work if you don't have continuous contact with salt water. if part of your ladder sits in the water all the time you may have other problems. Especially if your boat is there all the time. Electrolysis is a hard thing to tract down. Anyway try Aluminum or Stainless and put a couple of shaft zinks on it. Or get one of those Mermaid Zinc thingys. JMHO.

No doubt @Old Mud is the Jedi Master for all this. His comment about electrolysis is spot on, in that the current ladder, an "extendable" one, sits in the water and is clearly suffering from that. After the "Technical Committee" decided the new ladder should be hinged so it did not stay in the water, The "Admiralty" issued an edict demanding something "light", therefore the plastic command. I've found some aluminum hinged ladders that will do the job and will go with that, with some adjustments to help w/getting the ladder up and secured.

Hey, sorry i sold my tig and mig welders. Here are a few good ones.

Extreme max is one i have installed a few times and seems to have good longevity. 7 or 8 years on a couple.

So after knowing these I came across this one that i have never seen before. It looks good in the videos so i may have to take back my "Hate plastic" statement
