"Went out early am today, solo, much to the wifes objections! I plyed the holes and structure that dot the Fire Islands looking for sea trout. I was fishing sandworms hard off the bottom. Nada, also alot of weed. I'll tell you this though, there was a hint of fall in the air. Get ready its coming.Capt.Matt,THE PROFESSIONAL."

re-reading some of "The Professional"'s exploits is the only reason I go back to that "other" website which IMHO is absolutely dead, as in, stick a fork in it. But Captain Matt's postings were hilarious back then. Still wish I knew who that joker really was / is.

The various areas of structure 8/28/09

"I fished solo yesterday. I wanted to get in a trip before Danny came over for the weekend (lol). As I was leaving the canal I spotted a school of nuts (not the salted kind folks but a term used for baby bunker), I managed to snag 2 nice fat ones before they disappeared. These make great baits for tiderunners(big weakfish) so I blasted off for the kismet area and man was I excited at the prospect of a big tasty weakie. By the time I got to the area one of the nuts died so I fished a double hook rig and drifted them both hard off the bottom with 8 oz of lead. About 15 minutes later I got bumped, I leaned back and drove the hook home, after a 5 minute battle I boated my first keeper fluke of the year, unfortunatly he had to go back because the season is over. I plugged the area for the next 30 minutes for nada. Instead of heading back I dropped the hook and relaxed with a hot mug of joe while reading the short story called The Three Day Blow by Hemingway. Quite appropriate don't you think? Nuff said,Capt.Matt,THE PROFESSIONAL."
