I guess as one matures, they start wondering what purpose some boats serve. I have a VERY limited opinion on a boat's utility. I can't fathom any reason to own a boat other than fishing, but that's me. A classic Roccus7 line when seeing a boat that doesn't meet his approval is, "You couldn't GIVE me that POS!!" and trust me, this thought comes to me quite often.

OK, so here's today's "WHY". It's a 26-28' RIB, with TWIN 300 HP Yammie 4-strokes. I've seen it on the water maybe 3 times in the 5 or so years it's been there. Its current purpose seems to be a very nice "head" for the seagulls. There was one time I did see it put to good use, and that was as a tender from a large, >100' yacht that was anchored outside of the harbor, which I assume belonged to a friend of this boat owner. I've never seen that yacht again.

So, other than a very expensive, fancy tender, what good is an overpowered, 27ish' RIB that never leaves the dock? It's not like there's a cabin or deck space to tell the ladies to "Sin or swim", which is the only reason, along with drug running, that cigarette hulls seem to be good for in my limited view.

What am I missing here?
