fish finder connections corrosion

i have a hook 7 on my yak and its been great, i love the big screen and the triple scan. i put dielectric grease on the connectors and it protects the pins somewhat but it creates an air pocket that keeps pushing the connector out and it takes a few mins of pressing and wiggling to get it to stay and power up the unit.
occasionally waves and motion push them out enough the unit would shut off on me or id lose depth data or the sonar would stop completely.
saltwater, air and electricity are the worst for thin metals.
after about a years use I started to lose depth too often and when i checked the pins and the connector a few of the pins and connectors had a good coating of that green corrosion on them. being so small and impossible to clean i searched for a solution and found this Deoxit cleaner and protector and it worked like a charm.
its not cheap but you don't use a lot and it worked great. i cleaned the pins in early sept and still look good when i put everything in storage in early dec .
no problems with the dielectric goop , no missing readings or losses of power for the rest of the season.
gave everything a quick clean and spray of the protectant for the winter and i expect it to be ready for action come april. even if i clean and coat a few times a season i have years of supply in just the tiny bottle i got.
i used a small paper clip size rod to work the solvent into the pin receptors
and when the greenish blue stuff stopped coming out i swabbed out as much as i could with paper towels and then coated it with the protectant.
i still have a little of the dielectric grease on them too but not nearly as much as i used to. we'll see how it goes next season!

Thank you. That's very helpful. My electronics get wet a lot and invariably it's either water penetrating the display and fogging up in the heat or corroded connectors that spells the demise of my unit or my wiring. I've used white (lithium) grease, and up to now I considered it my best option. Thanks again and keep posting!

It's either a new one or replace the pins.
