A steel, or even a trick aluminum handle nut wrench will cut through the anodizing, leaving the unsightly silver aluminum to show where you've screwed up. Nut replacement therapy (nice touch, no?
) is the only remedy for such damage. Believe me I know from this. Even putting a piece of Saran plastic wrap over the nut will not save it from the damage a metal wrench will eventually cause.
