Herring and Shad Identification Tips

After catching a shad last weekend as I by catch I realized I was unable to tell the difference in the different types of Shad. (American shad you are not allowed to possess). One of our cell phone carriers was able to get an internet connection (not Verizon LOL) and I found this link which has pictures to assist at identifying the shad.
