Good News - unlike many other manufacturers, system updates, including GPS maps, something many vendors hit you with a $300 charge, can be downloaded on-line for no charge!!

Bad News - the instructions provided with the update download isn't 100% correct IF you're updating your Navigation (GPS) software & maps, AND you've got to make sure you've got the correct media to download the updates on.
  • Webpage says you can use either USB memory sticks or SD memory cards.

  • Webpage isn't very specific on memory limitations and formatting, so here it is.
    • You cannot have anything bigger than 32 GB
    • The memory MUST be formatted as 32FAT, not exFAT nor NTFS
  • If you're updating your GPS, you MUST use SD memory, not USB!!!
OK, HTF did I learn all this? I loaded everything to a USB stick from the KIA website and after a long update process, ~ 30 min, my system restarted and said, "Cannot initialize Navigation System". OK, I figured I must have had a hiccup somewhere. Reformatted the USB stick, downloaded the files again and ran the update. Same result...

Time for Google. On the KIA website, someone asked the same WTF question I had, but nobody responded. While loading the updating program on the computer I noticed Windows asking me if it was OK to let the Hyundai program load on my hard drive. Based on that, I figured that the update download program is stamped as Hyundai, so I went out to the Hyundai website and found the same question posed multiple times, with the resolution that even though they tell you that both USB and SD memory is OK, you HAVE to replace the SD card in the unit with an SD card with the updates.

Downloaded the updates for a third time to an SD card, a 30 minute process, stuck the card in the unit, and ran the 30 minute update also for a 3rd time.

Well as they say, the Third Time's the Charm, and it was today. Regardless I'm still furious that the instructions are just plain incorrect, not giving the user an important piece of information.

Oh well, I had nothing else to do all afternoon...

I tried resetting all that to get my clock back… NG…

Aye there's the difference between us my friend. When microprocessors present me with a problem, I take it as a personal affront and have at it. On rare occasions, I lose, but it is rare...

I may submit to silicone, but NEVER submit to silicon!!!

It’s ok for me, I love to hear it ticking at certain times… ya know the theme, “ TIMEX takes a beating and keeps on ticking… C22...

Kia Telluride has an awesome feature I've never seen...the vents have electric heating elements in them.
So when the car is still blowing cold air as the engine heats up you'll have heat blowing in to the cabin. (y)
