BTW dude, that's the French aerobatic team.

Although in the spirit of the holiday let me say that without the French we would not have an Independence Day and they did choose Red, White and Blue for their flag in honor of our being their inspiration to overthrow tyranny. So in that respect it is appropriate.

Spain openly declared war but the Dutch did not. France's help is considered a major, vital, and decisive contribution to the United States' victory against the British. As a cost of participation in the war, France accumulated over 1 billion livres in debt.

The whole world has been embroiled in tribal conflict since the first Cro-Magnon clubbed the first Neanderthal or visa-versa. The United States is the only place where we've ever approached something resembling cultural harmony. At least until the last fifty years or so.
