Alright, it’s time to give some well-deserved credit—possibly to the best general manager in the history of baseball, Brian Cashman. Sure, he’s had a big payroll to work with, but so do many other teams, and it’s not all about the money. In fact, the Mets currently hold the highest payroll in baseball, surpassing the Yankees, who are second on the list.
Despite dealing with a shaky rotation and a bullpen that’s been far from reliable, Cashman, along with the genius that is Aaron Boone, has managed to guide the Yankees to the best record in the AL. Now, they’re heading to the ALDS!
Since Cashman took over in 1998, the Yankees have won four World Series championships and six American League pennants, with 21 playoff series wins under his belt. Sure, it’s been a while since our last World Series win in 2009, but 25 straight winning seasons? That’s consistency most teams can only dream of .
This has been one hell of a season and one that none of us could have predicted. The two NY teams waiting to see who they will pay next.
I’m happy for Mets fans, really. I only root against them when they’re playing the Yankees. But make no mistake—I’m a Yankee fan!
Let’s start the trash talK!
