Local Boat Fire - Terrible!

Leprechaun

Kind of a Big Deal - In My Mind Anyway

This boat, the Canyon Lady, is very local to me, docking in Bellmore and fishing the same areas as I do for as long as I've owned the Lep. I think the owner's name is Dave Pincus. It was a well cared for and very beautiful boat, recently repowered no less, and looks to be a total loss. I really feel for the man.

Jeez, that's a real shame. Hope that the repower had nothing to do with the destruction.
Would the authorities or insurance company even try to determine the cause?

I dunno. I do have an insurance adjuster friend. I'll ask him.

Wait, isn't Mitch/Chinacat in that line of work? Maybe he can offer some insight as to how insurance companies handle this sort of thing. It actually might be useful info, though I pray I never have to go there.

Yep but I’m not involved with boat or auto claims
Cause and origin is normal procedure on all claims of higher exposure or value
However, based on those pictures and extent of damage this one looks like it will be difficult if not impossible to 100% confirm or place blame

Sailed out of Bellmore and shared canal with the Lady. Seen her coming going and fishing in our vicinity. Terrible , awful. No one hurt which is most important. Bummer way to end year.

I'm curious how that claim would work. Is it based on the most recent survey?
I'm curious because I've been on 30yr old boats that were redone top to bottom as well as those that were let go......huge difference in value.
