Tiring of the daily striped bass grind and with light AM tidal flow, figured I'd mix things up and head out a bit to try for some "sangweech" size harbor pollock today. That decision gave me another hour of sleep which was desperately needed. When I got up there was zippo wind, see below, so I hopped in the boat and fired up the ponies.

Got out to my spot and heard a large exhaling "PUFFFFFFFFF" to look and find a Minke whale 200 yds aft of the boat. That was welcomed in the I haven't seen a whale in 2 years. Watched it swim around for 5 min and started fishing. Ended up with 3, 17" harbor pollock for Taco Thursday as well as a bunch of cod that had to go back, some tiny Acadian Redfish, a few micro cunners (bergalls), and a bunch of micro pollock.

As I brought one of the redfish up, it was being followed by a 3' porbeagle shark. Tried to get it to hit a jig, but he wasn't interested. Interesting in that it had one of those fin copepod parasites hanging from it's dorsal fin the one that's commonly seen hanging from makos.

Was dripping wet from sweat 3 miles out in the ocean so I finally called time in that dinner was covered. As I entered my bay I saw another minke whale. Two in one day, haven't seen that in many years. When I got back to my dock was shocked to see 69°F water temps. This heat can break fast enough...

Blowing like the Hammers of Hell, NOT, this morning in the harbor...
