Interesting episode of Nova last night on whale deaths. It seemed as if it had been produced in maybe 2020, as the data was from 2018 and 2019. The show discussed the migration change of Right whales from the Bay of Fundy, to both Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Cape Cod area, based on the reduction of plankton in Fundy. This new migration pattern caused a surge in whale mortality, which autopsies showed was based on boat strikes and fishing gear entanglements, as well as frustration to fishermen, as areas were closed to fishing after whale sightings. They also reported reductions in vessel speed limits based on the new whale migration patterns.
