Middle Ground Light..

This report is for Saturday 10/29/2022.

My older son decided he wanted to go tog fishing so he joined my younger son and I and we planned on going out to Middle ground light and see if the tog have moved in.
Yesterday was supposed to be 5 to 10 knt NE winds,1 foot or less, so I finally figured out what the forecasters mean when they say 1 foot or less, IT's 1 foot or less than 4 lol.

Packed up the boat, I bought 12 dozen crabs the night before and we launched the boat around 7.30 am.

It was cold and a little windy but we made our way over to Middle ground, it was a little sporty so we took our time.
We arrived around 8.15 am and my younger son Charles had marked a spot that we fished last weekend and we setup on that spot, by now it kicked up a notch and we were getting solid 2 footers with an occasional 3 thrown in for good measure.

It was really hard to stand up in the boat and keep your balance so I sat on the gunnel which made it harder for me to feel the bites.

My second drop I hooked up with a 16.5 tog and thought this might be a good day.
Well for me anyways that was not the case as both my sons out fished me, oh well win some lose some.

Both my sons limited out with fish from 16.5" to 22", while all I did was keep the shorts away so they could catch the big ones, what a great Dad I am lol.

So total was 7 Tog to 22" and I got to fish with both my sons at the same time which is very rare.

It looks like some quality fish have moved in to Middle ground light area.
The KId ( Mark Gary) was out there again and right on the same numbers, he didn't last long.

It layed down around noon time but we were running out of crabs, all I did was feed them or catch shorts so after the last tog was caught around 1pm we sat, ate lunch and just enjoyed the rest of the day till we headed in around 2.30pm and cleaned the boat and fish when we got back home.

Great day with my sons and it looks like the fishing is only getting better.

Tight Lines Everyone,
Stay Healthy and Safe,
Jay

Great report, thanks. you are lucky to have fished with your children. My son lives in Manhattan now so he doesn’t fish too much with me anymore. It’s definitely a treat, good for you!
