Might Have Missed Prime Time By 1/2 A Tide

Yesterdays weather called for 10/15 N/N/W in the morning then lighter in early afternoon, not the best wind for the flood tide in Plum Gut but after being off the water for almost 3 weeks I was hot to go. Arrived & found the forecast to be spot on, wind stronger than the start of the tide had my boat, with a cabin, standing still or drifting the wrong way, & the rip was standing up. Positioned the boat right at the head of the rip, & tried a diamond jig, first drop fish on, lots of rocking & rolling for a big bluefish as the boat drifted into the rip. Four more times doing the same thing resulted in one slot bass & two more bluefish, by then my old knees had enough & headed back to the ramp to load up. Driving home got a look at the sound, by then the wind had flopped out & the water was calm.
