Nassau County Rifle Range

Is still closed. Sign said it would reopen on the 22nd. Hearsay has it taking longer. One employee resigned, another let go. (Not easy with civil service!) Hearsay has the reason for this mess is that an unqualified and/or incompetent contractor was hired for lead remediation and the poor ventilation system worsened, possibly becoming an OSHA issue now. In addition, there may have been some "shenanigans" with the "repatriated" lead and recovered brass going to favorite sons. Typical Nassau County.

The range actually reopened today, as per what the sign and the recorded message stated (which as a Nausea County resident, shocks me poopyless.)
I would ask that anyone who goes after this reopening give us an idea as to what if any changes are noticed. This concludes my PSA.

Shot there today for an hour. Got there at 12:30, no wait although the lady said it was up to 90 minutes before lunchtime. Everything is freshly painted. Saw no other changes. I was quite happy with my shooting skills and that's really all that matters. Going Monday to the Calverton Range. Weather has been so bad on Mondays and Fridays when its open (I shun weekends) that I expect locusts or toads if it doesn't rain Monday.
