Sad story - have to be careful

I generally don't take my rowboat out from 12/1 to 5/1, but these guys had all the permits and life preservers required.
I'm not sure why they phoned home to say they were fishing into the evening, that New Year's Eve storm was pretty strong.

I fish that area. That is very sad. That water is cold in the summer.

Sad indeed, In 39 degree water one only has about 10 Minutes or less before you are incapacitated by hypothermia.

It does amaze me to see tin boats out in 38F water temps...yakkers are mostly dressed for immersion: dry suit, layers, PFD always, and pick and choose the calmest days in winter to launch. Not much self rescuing to be done if your boat sinks...
