# Salty Sal's Long Island Sound Report - October 3, 2025

Alright, fellow anglers, Salty Sal here with the latest intel from the Long Island Sound! The fall bite is in full swing, and there's plenty of action to be had across the region.

## North Shore Highlights

Bottom dwellers are chewing their heads off! **Porgies** are going wild from one end of Long Island to the other, and even further east. **Sea bass** action has dramatically improved, with a good number of keepers hitting the ice. The **weakfish** bite continues to be incredible, with many quality fish being taken outside all the bays and harbors along the Sound. There are also plenty of smaller weakfish mixed in, often caught while targeting porgies or fluke.

Speaking of **fluke**, a few are still showing up at Buoy 11 and heading west towards the East River. Open and charter boats fishing the sandy fringes of the East River are still enjoying good fluke fishing, with the best ratio of keepers seen since the spring. **Spot and snappers** are still being taken at most piers and docks, but you'll need to hurry as cooler water temperatures will soon send them out of the bays and into the Sound. **Bluefish** have come on strong along the East End, while **striped bass** have been a bit elusive in most of the Sound, with only a few small bass reported here and there. **Blackfish** season is less than two weeks away, and anglers are optimistic for a strong start.

## Regional Breakdown:

* **Little Neck:** Stripers are still inside Manhasset Bay, with the best bite at night on the bottom of the tide using live spot, bucktails, and plugs.
* **New Rochelle:** Excellent action with porgies, spot, weakfish, and a few keeper fluke reported on sunset trips.
* **Rye:** Porgies, weakfish, and sea bass are filling buckets for sinker bouncers, while striper fishing remains excellent.
* **City Island:** Anglers are catching full limits of porgies up to 3 pounds, along with weakfish, spot, and sea bass.
* **Glenwood Landing:** Weakfish, porgies, spot, and sea bass are all responding well to worms, clams, and squid around 28 C and all the wrecks and reefs.
