Sea Bass

My son came out Saturday, his only day to fish, we arrived at the Mattituck DEC ramp about 6:30 & the front parking area was already full with boat trailers & a few in the overflow lot. First thought was what a chit show this place is going to be in the afternoon. Anyway we launched & ran north from the inlet. We found lots of shorts, we’re able to put 6 keepers on ice before 11, no sea monsters but solid keepers. Got back to the ramp before noon & the crowds. I had some green crabs in the freezer left over from last fall black fishing & they produced the biggest sea bass. A good morning.

I finally got out on Shinny Reef late Friday and caught and released a bunch of 16’s ??

Nice going, John and son!

I try hard to avoid the crowds and crazies on the big Holiday weekends so I was glad to be open this weekend. Fished recreationally with a friend back west yesterday but will break my own rule and get out there Tuesday morning, I have a hankering for a fresh Sea Bass dinner!
