SHEEPSHEAD BAY, Brooklyn — In a dramatic late-night rescue operation, eleven people were safely evacuated from a sinking fishing boat at Pier 1 in Sheepshead Bay on Wednesday evening, August 7th, 2025.
- 9:30 PM - Emergency 911 call received reporting boat taking on water while docked
- 9:32 PM - FDNY and NYPD Harbor Unit dispatched to Pier 1, East 26th Street & Emmons Avenue
- 9:40 PM - First responders create makeshift bridge using rescue equipment
- 9:45 PM - All 11 passengers successfully crawled to safety
- 10:15 PM - One person transported to Coney Island Hospital as precaution
- 11:00 PM - Vessel stabilized, remains half-submerged at pier

Dramatic photos captured the moment when one side of the white fishing boat plunged into the dark waters of Sheepshead Bay, creating a precarious situation for everyone aboard.FDNY Official said:"Our teams worked quickly to establish a safe evacuation route. The makeshift bridge allowed all passengers to crawl to safety as the vessel continued to sink."

"It's not yet known what caused the boat to sink. The incident is under investigation," according to ABC7 News reports.
