Snapper’s

So with the winds blowing the next few days, fishing is not happening. My brother visiting me from Florida I wanted to do something today. So yesterday set up to ultralight spinners and said let’s try snapper fishing in the morning. As kids that was our pastime in the summer catch all the snappers you want, but we never kept them it was always catch and release just keep count how many you caught. My boat in my canal is a stone throw from the bay, I said we can stand on the boat and fish. Needless to say days of snapper fishing is a thing in the past. We had our lines in the water by 6.30 after two hours we managed 3 snappers all around 5/6 inches long. That was two hours too long for me, but we tried. Certainly no shortage of peanut and small adult sized bunker in the canal the morning. Just like many other species snappers are a thing in the past.

That’s why they put such a stretch limit on them now

You are correct, like I said as kids we never kept them. They were fun to catch as kids but remembered seeing people with buckets full of them. We left after fishing and took a ride to some local docks. It was painful looking at some of the blue claws in buckets. Some looking barely legal and females. Also as kids growing up and to this day never kept the female crabs. Sad to think what the recreational fishing will be like in years to come.
