So That's What They Look Like....

Avenger

Well-Known Angler
My buddy's boat is getting hauled tomorrow, so we gave it one last shot today. Headed out of Jones not trusting reports we figured we'd explore and see where people were actually fishing.

Well, it turns out, if you look left every frickin boat from the Great South Bay is there.

Short story long, at 8:00 am Stripers were busting on the surface and it wasn't a question of going over here or there, they were everywhere.

We trolled a MoJoe and a giant round-@$$ bucktail. We probably could have got them to hit a concrete paver. Everything we put in the water got hit. We probably had about a dozen pickups, and boated nine fish. Everything was slot size except for one that was too big.

The bite was way TF on until about 9:00 am, and then it wasn't. The one in the net was the last one to hit, probably a half hour after the rest of them lost their appetite. Sadly, we accidentally backed over the giant round-@$$ bucktail trying to avoid a collision. It was bumper to bumper out there.

Since neither of us actually like fish, and our pool of potential giftees was almost one, we elected to return God's creatures to their home in excellent health.

They're still around, so go get 'em boys!

Oh, BTW, I was impressed to see one thing, which was that there is still an uncensored broadcast forum that encourages the free exchange of ideas on all subjects. Not just fishing information, but boating etiquette, spot information and a well rounded discussion of people's intellect, parentage and ethnic background, as well as their sexual proclivities.

I'm talking about the freewheeling world of marine VHF. Which is not shy to express opinions on a wide range of subjects. I was also impressed to see a few people try to remind others that some terms are inappropriate, including one fellow who corrected a misuse of an ethnic term during a discussion of fishing technique by pointing out that "I don't think you can say Jig anymore."

A good day of fishing is better than.......
