So who was Matt the professional?

More from Captain Matt, the professional
"Just woke up from a nice refreshing nap and have the energy to tell about todays trip. left mid morning with Big Al and a bunch of fresh whole skimmers. We tried drifting around the west bar but it was difficult with all the idiots that insist on anchoring up in 10 feet of water. Honestly I do'nt know what the hell their fishing for anchored in that depth. Anyway the h20 was dirty as I suspected and we caught nada, not even a bump.

After fishing hard for 2 hours we headed over to the reef and anchored up for some bottom fishing. Al was having a great time eating and drinking. I swear he must have a hollow leg, he downed about 10 beers. But he always behaves himself so I don't say anything. We caught 2 nice fat sea bass that were to small to keep.

When we got back to the dock Al was sleeping down in the cabin so I let him sleep it off. For all I know he's still down there. Well lets hope the fishing improves or this could be an awfull fall season. See you out there,Capt.Matt,THE PROFESSIONAL."

Capt. Walt had another alter ego. I think it was "Megadalon" or something like that.

I remember Capt. Walt was always trying to trade a cod fishing charter on board the "Lucy Larcom" for laying sheet rock or some other service. There was a picture posted on one of his posts of the boat. It was like a twin hull, twin outboard, extra large pontoon boat.

Gaucho told me at a bash that he was Porgy Frito. If you go back, a Gaucho post was often the first one after a Porgy Frito post.

And to open a new can of worms, what about "Brittany18".

as Jimmy Durante used to say. " I gots a million of 'em"

"Al and I hit it over the weekend, we hit it early and we hit it hard.As this was the first trip of the new season we did not fish.Instead it was a shake down cruise. Now folks I know what your thinking, what were Al and Matt doing dancing in the cockpit and boozing it up!! Wrong kind of cruise, you see a shake down cruise (a term applied in the 19th century) is when your out on your first trip and you methodically go over all your equipment and make sure it all works properly.A good captain will do this every year.

As far as fishing goes I can tell you this, the h20 looks clean(a good sign).Water temps still a little chilly for any pelagics but that could change soon.

Hopefully we will get some warmer and dryer weather.

Get ready its coming, heres to a good year for everyone.See you out there,Capt.Matt,THE PROFESSIONAL."

or this one-
"I hit it early and I hit it hard yesterday. It was to windy for the Lady so I took the surf gear and headed to Moses. The wind, she was a hard mistress blowing west, souwest. The h20 was dirty and had some cabbage (thats weeds folks (lol) ). Fair amount of fellow fisherman scattered about, nobody catchin though.

With the strong sweep and wind I knew I had to work my favorite 4 oz buck tipped with pork rind. I saw the guy next to me trying to fling a popper but it was'nt working. I yelled over to him to use a heavier lure that would sink. He blew me off and flipped me the bird, not very nice when you're just trying to be helpful.

I fished the buck hard off the bottom and in about 30 minutes I was slammed. I fought the bass to the beach. A nice fat schoolie about 22 inches. I held it up for Mr. Wiseass to see then released it back to Mother Ocean. I tipped my hat turned around and walked back to the denali. He could'nt see the grin on my face. A lession I'm sure he'll remember. Get ready, its coming, see you out there,Capt.Matt, THE PROFESSIONAL. "
Classic!,,

I can't believe that none of you all couldn't figure out that it was Hungry Jack. I know Cany's going to say no? but you couldn't convince me otherwise. I don't want to reveal the proof because I don't want to make any member here feel uncomfortable...

Hungry Jack left the board in disgust several years ago. His parting shot was to delete some of his old posts. He had one that listed all the different crabs in our waters with pictures and everything. I remember that thread.

But "The Professional" continued to post after that. If he had left the way he did, I doubt that he would have still done anything to contribute.

I am about 90 percent sure that I am correct about the timing. I know that Capt Matt disappeared a few years ago but as I recall HJ disappeared a few years before that.

From JoeB- "because I don't want to make any member here feel uncomfortable..."

Why would they feel uncomfortable (unless they were a "rat fink"!) Captain Matt the Professional kept me reading the reports, even when the party boats started to print their "exaggerations" (and all in CAPS.)

Too funny Ill do some research like I said I forgot who it was but I will find out again and its someone you would never think it was that much I remember lol

Matt's posts were hilarious! Just as fun to read as the responses he received as he trolled newbies up.
HJ was a good guy who obviously could stir the pot...Beirut! Met him once down in NJ on the water and had a drink and lunch with him. Very nice guy.
