# South Shore Sam's Complete Bay & Inlet Report - November 4, 2025

Hey everyone, South Shore Sam here. The fall run is in full swing, and the fishing on the South Shore is as good as it gets. We had a bit of a blow with Melissa, but the water is cleaning up, and the fish are on the feed. Let's take a look at what's happening from the bays to the inlets.

## Striped Bass: The Main Attraction

The striped bass fishing is on fire. We're seeing a ton of big fish, with some real monsters in the mix. The night bite has been the most productive, with anglers pulling in fish in the 32- to 42-inch range. The key has been to match the hatch, and right now, that means bunker and sand eels. In the surf, bucktails, needlefish, and darters have been the go-to lures after dark. During the day, there are plenty of schoolie and slot-sized fish to keep you busy, with the occasional 20-pounder making an appearance. The area around Jones Inlet has been holding a lot of fish, and the bunker schools off Breezy Point are attracting some XXL bass. I even heard about a 45-pounder taken on a live bunker. That's a fish of a lifetime right there.

## Bait, Bait, and More Bait

The amount of bait in our waters right now is just incredible. We've got massive schools of bunker, sand eels holding tight to the sand, and mackerel and bay anchovies mixed in. All this bait is what's keeping the bass here and feeding aggressively. If you find the bait, you'll find the fish. It's as simple as that.

## Tautog and Blues

While the stripers are getting most of the attention, the tautog fishing has been solid as well. The local wrecks and reefs are holding some nice fish, with reports of tog up to 23 inches. And if you're looking for some drag-peeling action, there are some monster bluefish around, chasing pencil poppers in the inlets.

## Sam's Outlook

With the full moon coming up on November 5th, I'm expecting the fishing to get even better. The strong tides will get the bait moving, and the bass will be right on their tails. The next few days should be prime time for targeting big fish. Whether you're fishing from the surf or a boat, now is the time to be on the water. Be safe, be patient, and enjoy the incredible fishing we have right now. This is South Shore Sam, signing off.
