Still no luck on my nuisance permit

Jumped a big one three weeks ago. No shot. Saw nothing at all 2 weeks ago. Yesterday gave up on our first spot and of course, while driving down an unimproved road to our next planned spot blundered into another big one accompanying a yearling on the side of the road. Shottie was of course safely stowed as per DEC so just watched them ghost off into the thick. Spent the next two hours trying to find them. Could have sworn the biggie was antlered, at least 6 or more points, but that seems late to still have them, doesn't it ? I have yet to harvest a deer later than mid December on this nuisance permit.

Seriously, this particular nuisance permit requires 5 phone calls to start and 6 to leave if one gets an antlered deer. Plus, although my buddy and I only hunt during the day and only from late October through March, there is a year round USDA "wildlife study" grant on the property that now restricts the nuisance hunters to just weekends and federal holidays. Needless to say on those days I am a walking pumpkin, with even fleece gloves, cap, a scarf my wife made me, as well as an overcoat or full vest in blaze orange. These deer can be pressured 24/7/365 but we can only use shotguns with slugs, no NVD, no bait, etc. so they are usually a bit wary. Maybe I need to find another nuisance permit, lol.
