Sunset trip

Decided to make a run after work for a few hours, before the craziness out there this weekend. Got on our first drop around 4 o’clock, plenty of company out there. I didn’t see any fish coming up on any boats and wasn’t marking any fish. There was quite a few boats east of us as to where we had fish the other day. Frank Sr and I made our way to the fleet with pretty much the same results no marks and no fish. Seemed like everyone was jockeying around with no results. We are probably two half to three hours in at this point, wasn’t looking good. We slowly started to part from the fleet and make our way away from everyone. Finally we get a fish on and it was a good one I said this fish is definitely over the slot after a nice little battle we boat her a nice healthy 41” fish photo and off she went. Reset and within minutes we’re on again got a glimpse of the fish and spit the hook. Reset on the same path and a short time later we’re on again only this fish was only about 24”. Continued making our way closer to home and said that’s it called it a night. Won’t try again until Tuesday.

Beautiful fish and beautiful weather. Good call to pass on another trip during the crazy holiday weekend.
For the first time in 21 years of chartering I decided to do the same thing this year. Caught my slot Bass yesterday morning and will enjoy a nice family BBQ and some rest this weekend.
Hope you do as well.

Much needed relaxing weekend Capt. Glad you get to rest and enjoy it

Fishing is extinct in New York saltwater and has been for a decade. Also, who is going to spend $100. to $250 for two ten inch porgies ?
Hey Fox,

Saltwater fishing contributed over 3 billion dollars to the Long Island economy. It may not be what it once was, but it's far from extinct. You'd be surprised what people will pay for a day on the water. Besides, you're underestimating the great fishing we have here. Yes, it has seen better days, but for me, nothing beats that salt air in the morning as we head out to the fishing grounds.

@Hunter704 said it best: "You have to enjoy what we have."
