Bucktail II
Angler
Had the pleasure of fishing with my good buddy and long time fishing partner on his CC this Saturday. He had heard good reports of fluking in his neck of the woods, so off we went.
Beautiful day on the water. Started the day with the incoming with a light NNE breeze in the west cut. Instant action with shorts and giant robins in and among the fleet. Continued with the shorts and robins until the tide tide died out. Took a little ride to check out the inlet, not much doing other than bluefish on the west side up by the jetty.
Decided to run back into the bay and we set up between 14 & 15 on the north side in search of blowfish. Dropped the chum-pot and it was instant action with blowfish, small seabass, and a few kingfish. Each time the chum got lean....the fishing dropped off. Threw in another log......back to instant action. We finished the day keeping only the large ones and ended up with 1/2 a 5 gallon bucket of these tasty critters in just a couple of hours. It was great to hear 3 young kids screaming and laughing while fishing with their grandfather in a small whaler not far from us. I'm sure it was a day they'll never forget !
