The "I Can't Believe They Missed/Foisted That On Us" Movie Thread...

I guess it's spending years as a "What's scientifically wrong with this picture" analyst, but when I watch movies/shows and I see something wrong, it just drives me nuts. I was just reading folks' comments about Jaws and I'll never forget seeing the line in the water from the transom of the Orca out to the barrels that were "supposed" to be chasing the boat, but we all knew they were probably being dragged by the boat itself during filming. Don't get me wrong, Jaws is a great movie and an early one by Spielberg so I did allow some artistic license, although how the water would go from dead calm to a choppy 15 times in one scene was also disconcerting...

However I caught a real doozy the other day while watching Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade for probably the 100th time!! In the scene where the German fighter planes are chasing Indy and his Dad, one plane drops a bomb. If you look closely, that "German" bomb has "Japanese" writing on it!! I guess Spielberg and Lucas lifted that 1 second clip from Spielberg's Empire of the Sun, but come on!! With all the CGI work in that movie, the trivial exercise of removing a few kanji characters from a short clip like that would be less than a rounding error of the total CGI budget. I guess they figured no one would notice, or maybe they didn't even notice????

So post your favorite or most irksome movie/show errors/slips/incongruities here!!

1. Just about every scene in every movie or TV show when the guy runs out of bullets in his semi auto pistol, replaces the mag and then racks the slide. Kept happening in " The Punisher." Every handgun I have has a button for the slide release, no need to rack the slide again.
2. Those hand grenade scenes that light up the skies with " gasoline or napalm." Every grenade I ever saw has a miniscule flash, some smoke, an ear shattering bang and a bunch of death dealing little "particles" flying about. No big fire though.
3. The seemingly endless shooting of firearms that rarely need to be reloaded. "The Walking Dead" although it is an otherwise totally believable zombie show, lol.
4. the fight scenes in endless movies and shows wherein the hero, beaten to a pulp, still gets the upper hand. One good shot breaking someone's nose usually takes a lot out of that fighter's fight ! The Punisher, ad infinitum.
