It's been very busy fishing around and I finally can post report of tuna popping trip in Panama in May. I fished on 110' luxurious mothership of Panama Sport Fishing Lodge.
I've been fishing Panama about 10 times and I think this trip is the best as far as tuna popping is concerned.
We tagged and released 151 tuna, mostly on poppers, between two boats in 5 days.
Tuna were not interested in bait, but fortunately they hit topwater lures.
On the first day, we had hard time to get hit on our normal poppers though we cast them in the middle of boiling tuna. We found later that they prefer small stickbait and they were not interested in big poppers. After we found what they preferred, the game was on for the rest of trip.
Tuna were so close to the boats, we even used short jigging rods ( spinning).
Here are pictures of the amazing trip.
