Fished out of Moriches Inlet this morning, we breezed into the ocean and headed west in search of bunker. Didn't take very long, there were schools as far as the eye could see. We bounced from pod to pod until we reached the new inlet west of Smith Pt. Pavilion. Not a friggin touch, nothing, nada, couldn't buy a hit, no Bass no Blues, nothing for hours. Started fluking while our snagged bunker swam around the boat, nothing. We finally gave up and headed to the reef in the hope perhaps some fluke might be duped around all that structure, nope, nothing. Drifted from 77' to 30' total fish caught 2 short fluke. Before calling it a day we decided to check out a bunch of boats we'd been watching east of the inlet. When we got there we found at least 2 dozen boats on a big bunker school pulling 40-50# bass along with small blues where 6 or 7 at a time would attack your bunker leaving you with nothing but a head to reel in. From famine to feast what a way to end a long day!
