What format for videos actually works?

I try to upload videos in AVI, m4v, MOV, mp4 and wmv......each time I select a video....it uploads......gets to 100%....then shows a message that it's not "encoded" in a supported format?
I have old videos and new videos....shot with a MOV formatted camcorder....vids shot with a GoPro, vids shot with my cell phone.....none will load?
I've tried about 15 different videos of various sizes and formats.....none of them load.
Any ideas why?

That's not what the upload video says.....WTF good is an "upload video" button if all you can load are YouTube videos.....???

It says what formats are acceptable to upload..... I tried all those formats...it didn't work...??

Get it fixed dammit..... I got videos to upload...??
