Many very sad and tragic images and stories coming from the South this past week with the Polar Vortex invasion, but I just had to stare in disbelieve today when they showed an exterior watermain connection to a home/condo in Texas. Guess what? Water was now pouring out of it because it burst upon freezing. Who'da thunk it??

You can add that to the list of EPIC DESIGN FAILURES that any Northerner is shaking their head at in disbelief.

• Uninsulated LNG piping
  
  
• Unheated wind generator turbines to prevent freezing

Yes, you can say these were unexpected problems, but how come folks on this side of Mason/Dixon have working wind generators, Natural Gas power plants and running water, even when it's -20°F??
