For those who love the surf: How about some action on this forum? How about some fishing reports? I understand that things are difficult now, but a few hours in the fresh air and sunshine will soothe the soul.

Once its fluke season I just kayak. Won't be back on the beach until October. I caught a single schoolie in two or three trips in April (I only cast lures) and that was it for me. and with so little success in bringing home dinner from the beach the last two years I spend much more time now in the fall going after Bambi.

Hi. I completely understand. I guess what I was asking is that if members are surf fishing it would be helpful to others to post reports. One can never stop learning .

Rich Troxler is the go to. Unfortunately for us he moved to VA and surf fishing is apparently quite different there. If you want I think I can send you some of his videos but I believe many are on you tube. He will probably chime in anytime. For me, when I do surfcast I invariably fish an open beach that many feel is best for bait only. Its my town beach and if they are hitting there its usually an absolute blitz near the inlets, lol. I did post a couple of my skunks a month ago!

IMHO, Its one of the reasons that Nor'east died, the big spot burning fiasco at Robert Moses with a sand eel bite a decade back. After that people just attacked each other, disagreed even if they didn't have a horse in the race, etc. Trox never spot burned but his information was invaluable and, pun intended, spot on !

Exactly. Information that speaks about tackle used, bait vs. artificials , tides and weather can help fishermen become better anglers. That's what sharing is all about

I’m a daytime beach fisherman,(not best hours) just got back from Florida and the humidity and with little wind tha last few days had kept me home... Looking to Wednesday with a south breeze to be to my liking, not so much this north stuff... getting out of Manhattan is a chore by itself, one or twice a week gives me a resonable chance to score... not important the amount of fish, I like to look at da ladies wanting my cell #... cellfish...

Spot burned nutin, spots are few anyway, ... my days off over the years was Tuesday/ Wednesday, loved it... cellfish...

btw, try not to be so anxious bout catching, it’s more of a blessing to be outside with fresh air and a great view... but what I will tell ya wit my 36 years of practicing beach fishing, I caught on quickly to South Florida beaches thats a different experience from what we experience here a few years ago, that allowed me to land this 35# Brut and I’m not talking champagne either... cellfish...

I've been to demo point three times in past month and got nothing throwing lures. My friend got 1 schoolie and a bunch of doggies and skates on the ocean side.

my experience, open beaches are quiet compared to inlets mostly dis tome of year, learn how to harvest those big doggies for da backyard BBQ... if ya outings are posted, da more experienced beach bugs can participate with some input rather than da other way around...
ps: don’t mind me, I’m home havIng a full bottle of a lite white wine wit a lot of ice... cellfish...

Talking about fishing spots on a fishing website. Who knew? :)
It was the reason it died. The bashing of folks who shared was relentless. And when the person fought back, well it was the moderators THEN jumping in and saying "hey we have TOS issues here!" It was comical.

Anyway, I fished Friday afternoon at Shinnecock West on the jetty for 5 bluefish at the end of the tide. Bucktails from 2oz down to 1 oz as the tide slowed. Bucktail had to slide along the bottom, no bouncing it or else no touches.
