The Bridgeport Board of Education here in ct. got hit with ransomware, lmao 3 weeks ago, after we just went live with a new firewall, we were being held ransom for 60 bitcoins, about 220k and they said they wiped our backup servers, jokes on them, we don't do backups, Barracuda services does.
Frankly i'm surprised it took this long. Since then we have been getting attacked on a daily basis, the CEN network has been getting Ddos attacks everyday, it seems everywhere around the world this is happening, we are also getting hit with spear phishing emails,I took a call from a guy pretending to be from the Microsoft Helpdesk, told me my IP address was compromised in 41 countries,I laughed and said only 41?, while I engaged this fraud in conversation, we traced the call thru our cisco system, he was using a NY number, although it registered as a digital 7 nonexistent number, we called the guy and told him someone in India was spoofing his number,he was grateful, I got another call while talking to this fraud, I told him I have to put you on hold, that's when he hung up, not before we got a trace on his IP address, of course he was calling from inside India.
So i'm not surprised that this site or any other site has been slow at times, it's only going to get worse until they crack down on these attackers.
