Port Jeff Area The Fat Lady is singing!! Loudly!! Seals in the area

Fished Port Jeff area today. Seas were dead flat. Headed to the black fish grounds. BTW Bunker are everywhere. Inside the harbor, outside the harbor from Mt Sinai to Cranes Neck.

Picked a few small black fish. No keepers. Different than the past weeks. Bite did not start until after the tide change when the current really started moving. Most fish around 14 inches.

Saw very large splashes on the numerous bunker schools. Almost like someone was water skiing right through the middle of the schools.

Finally saw a large big head pop up-SEALS, Never saw seals in the sound before but they were there today!!

Ended the day at B-11. Again bunker were everywhere. So were the seals. There was a large seal feeding on the bunker schools

Did manage one small bass. The jig was bigger than the fish. The bass was maybe 15 inches.

Pretty sure this was my last trip of the year.

We saw all the bunker on the way in today. We fished a couple wrecks in the mid sound it was lights out 5 man limit with an easy 40-50 keepers caught. Unfortunately it’s my last trip as the next 2 weekends I have things to do.

Consider it an early Christmas present from Mud and me. I hope they love it so much they decide to stay all year.

It is fun, especially for small children, to sit over a school of seal bunker feast and just watch...
