My first MLB game in the US was a Mets vs Pirates in the ole Shea stadium. A friends father who was a minister took us on the 7 train to Flushing. What an experience. It was a long game and the Mets were getting their azz kicked. We left a bit early in the last inning as we wanted to beat the dissapointes crowd to the trains. As we were walking the long ramp that leads to the subway station, we heard a crack and the deafening cheers all the way at the ramp. A few on base one good smack and the Mets won. We cheered, along with the others who also left early, right there on the ramp.
I remember that day like it was yesterday. I can stilltaste the hot dog and soda.

That friend of mine became a cop and became a desk sergeant in the NYPD.
He still lives by my store, which is a few blocks away from the school we both attended. He had a baby in his late 40's and has beautiful little baby girl.
Last I spoke with him, he told me he put on his full gear for the first time in decades to help patrol the BLM protests.

After reading about all the "riots" those protests lead to, I was concerned for him and asked him if it was safe and if he ever felt like he was in danger.

"Naw, Joe, there are a few bad apples, some get in our face and shout @ us, but it's mostly peaceful protests. We were standing by a AT and T store when we got a call a few blocks away. We went to answer the call, and came back in a few minutes, and the AT and T store was looted." He told me with a smile.

"No one(officers)got hurt?"

"No everyone was fine."

"John I hope you stay safe during the protest"

Havn't seen him since, hope him and his family is doing well.

I had a BLM march right by my store and nothing was looted, nothing was burned and imagine that they came in a bought drinks and snacks.

Funny how people take only the things they want from the "fake" media to support their own views.

Really? Don’t try to pull that BS over on these guys (They Were Peaceful). Next time they come by stand at your door and shout U.S.A. a couple of times. Not a chance you have the balls! Curious, do you remember if it was just five women and skells with megaphones? They did a lot of casing out where the mob would be that night. What do you sell really, books, info on how to work or get a job? Obviously no use to that bunch.

FYI I get zero from media as you would know it. TV goes on to check the weather and that’s it. Mistabaiter I’m a in your (their) face guy and was a thorn or fist in their faces all summer. I watched many store fronts get ripped out downtown while peeps like you denied it all. Had the mayor personally call me and a group racists for fighting back. You may be old and frail or scared or whatever, so you come on a forum to be that armchair warrior. I dont, I fight for others at the level needed to get the job done. So yeah nothing Funny outside of your comment.

As many of you know, I run a store in Manhattan. I stop shoplifters in my store everyday. Blacks, whites, latinos and even asians.
I'm five ten and weigh now 130. I got no problem defending my wife(who works the register), my self, nor my store.

When the protesters passed by my store, I was out side with my greased aluminum bat, just in case. Ask me why I grease the bat if you have no idea.
They marched by without any problems. And as I said many came in for soda, water and snacks.
