First Winchester, now Colt, so sad!! The sadder part IMO is it's highly probable that these sales are driven by litigation worries...

Maybe Colt's buyer can't be sued since its European ? But Marlin, Remington, Bushmaster etc. Surprised Bloomberg or Soros didn't buy them and convert the factories to yogurt for snowflakes.

and another thought is that my favorite pistol in my modest collection is a CZ-75, once the standard firearm of the Eastern Bloc police forces. CZ manufactures quality firearms. I lingered in acquiring a 9mm, mainly because I hated the Beretta that the Pentagon forced us to accept, and missed the 1911 45s until I retired and got my own. With millions of new gun owners nationwide, including many from heretofore missing races and genders, it will be interesting just how much BS "Shotgun Joe" will force through. (If that is too political, a fellow mod should feel free to delete the previous sentence.

What's really sad is former eastern bloc countries are more able to pursue a legitimate business in the US than corporations in a supposedly free republic with constitutional protections.

Me and my father have CZ 75's. He has the standard length model and I bought the Compact. If CZ bought Colt I expect Colts quality to improve. What a wonderful company! They made Mauser 98's for the Germans during WW2. I have one of them. The best $300 I ever paid for a Pistol.The other best buys were the Rock Island 1911 for $300 and the Walther P1 for $300 also. The US Army considered adopting the CZ75 but it was Communist. They mentioned that at the Abeerdeen Testing Ground Museum. I tested the Beretta 9MM but it cost too much, Glock seemed crudely made with that horrible slide and it stings your hand when you fire it. The CZ 75 was the least expensive and the best quality of them all. It was ranked by Guns and Ammo magazine as one of the top 10 pistols of all time. Right out of the box it was super accurate.

When it came in he made sure he was there as he wanted to tell me that of the hundred pistols he owned, it was his favorite. Colts can and should be better.

I never had any trouble with Marty and I first went to that store in the mid 1980's. Use to love going there when they had racks of super cheap military surplus rifles. Bought a 1918 Swedish Mauser in 1987 for $90 , A Japanese rifle for $90 and 2 German Mauser Kar 98's for around $200 each in the late 90's.

To the chagrin of many, lol, Marty and I hit it off really well, but it was Stan's son Hank that I would seek out most of the time. It wasn't until after I retired from the reserves in 2001 that I started to build a small firearm collection, all shooters with mostly easy to find and inexpensive to buy calibers.

Yep Winchester, Colt, Evinrude and more. Guess more money can be made offshore. Dam shame when American legends go away. I make sure whenever one of these company's go offshore or sell out to someone not in USA i never support them. Bite off my nose to spite my face ? YES.

Ona better note i bought half a dozen 6.5 Cacano's back in 1957 or so in K Mart for $6. each. They had several 30 gallon trash cans full. Everyone (even me) thought 6.5 was a trash caliber. Boy were we wrong.

I still have a custom 98 Mauser for my favorite deer rifle.

At least the Winchester firearms branch was sold to Ruger in the good old U.S. of A.
