Just scared the heck out of my daughter.
I had just made a right turn onto a main residential street, and took a big swig of water. I choked, started to pull over and lost consciousness. My foot relaxed from the brake pedal and we where headed into somebody’s front yard. I awoke and hit the brake about 3 feet from the shrub covered chain link fence. ?

First, I'm not playing Dr. here, you MUST see your doctor as there may be something serious that caused this "Vasovagal Syncope" event, which may have been triggered by the choking, and a resulting drop in blood flow to your brain.

OK R7, WTF does that mean?

Vasovagal syncope occurs when the part of your nervous system that regulates heart rate and blood pressure malfunctions in response to a trigger, such as the sight of blood.

Your heart rate slows, and the blood vessels in your legs widen (dilate). This allows blood to pool in your legs, which lowers your blood pressure. Combined, the drop in blood pressure and slowed heart rate quickly reduce blood flow to your brain, and you faint.

Sometimes there is no classical vasovagal syncope trigger, but common triggers include:

  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Heat exposure
  • Seeing blood
  • Having blood drawn
  • Fear of bodily injury
  • Straining, such as to have a bowel movement
Now there is a classic Vasovagal Syncope that strikes us males who no longer are "strong, with the Force", you know, damn prostate growing and your urine stream isn't as forceful as it used to be.

Micturition Syncope

Micturition (or post-micturition) syncope is fainting during or, more commonly, immediately after urination due to a severe drop in blood pressure. Micturition syncope is most common in older men and usually occurs at night after a deep sleep.

The exact cause of micturition syncope isn't fully understood. But it may be related to opening (vasodilation) of the blood vessels that occurs when getting up and standing at the toilet or that occurs at the rapid emptying of a full bladder. This is thought to result in a sudden drop in blood pressure.

Other factors that may play a role in micturition syncope include:

  • Alcohol
  • Hunger
  • Fatigue
  • Dehydration
  • Medical conditions, such as a respiratory infection
  • Use of alpha blockers to improve urination in men with prostate problems

Jeeze guys I choked on water I’m fine??
Thanks for being so concerned
Yes, that's probably what caused the Vasovagal Event, BUT, and I'm sure the D & SWMBO, have been "gently" reminding you, it wouldn't hurt for you to call your primary care Doc to tell them what happened.

Most likely, it's going to be a "don't drink and drive" recommendation, and that would set everyone's mind at ease, putting this to rest...

Okay I will

Sipping coffee and watching a group of ospreys in the back recreating the Battle of Midway, dive bombing some fish, alewives I assume.

First nice sunny day in a week, hopefully I'll get out in the boat in the afternoon after lunch with @Old Mud , morning is full of activities.

All is calm, quiet and clear at Marshall Point...

this is insane - the local pizza place (& the only one worth buying pizza from on the Shore) has just shutdown because they can't get anyone to work - he pays his waitstaff $15 an hour............

They're making that or better on unemployment.
