2019 Ford F-150 ,Ram 1500 and Toyota Tundra vs Large SUVS Consumer reports

My scanner is broken or i would not have typed.
Because I live in a co op in Northern Queens for the past many years, I have only owned full sized vans strictly for my fishing tackle and driving to many fishing destinations . i thought I would get a yak and even gutted the interior of my last van to fit a 13 footer. health issues nixed that. i have off street private parking but cannot fit Full sized pick up truck in our parking spots or garages. So sadly I will never have my Boy Toy living here. But many of you have trucks/ jumbo SUVS?. so here we go:

Best Truck for Access: RAM 1500, Ford Expedition Max
Best Truck Fuel Economy: Ford F-150, Ford Expedition Max 2nd
Best Truck for Towing Capacity: Ford F-1500, Ford Expedition Max 2nd.
Best Drivability: Ford Expedition Max, Ram 1500 2nd
Seating/ Comfort: Ford Expedition Max, Ram 1500 2nd
Ride: Ram 1500, Chevy Suburban
Budget buy Toyota Tundra
CR was surprised on the ride tests by the Ram 1500. Saying it is the exception to the rule of rough bouncy rides because of it's rear suspension.
For u trucksters, CR rated overall : Recommended: Number 1: Ford F-150, Toyota Tundra # 2 and not recommended but close # 3 Ram 1500.

Had a few SUV and pickup trucks and we seem to keep them forever as the kids grow up and take them over . .
My current fav is the 2016 Expedition Limited [ bought new ] , best ride of any SUV i've owned , drives more like car than a 'truck' . We still have the 190,000 mile Tahoe which served us well , but the Ford drives better . Our Pickups are all 2500 series , the new ones are actually harder to work out of as both Chev and Fords both sit higher than earlier models , newer 2500 Ford are a very stiff ride , Chev 2500 rides good . .... My old 2002 Ford 250 is still a better working truck than these new ones .
Sat in a 2018 Expedition , very nice , have not rode in one .... I would buy a used 2017 Expedition Limitied in a heartbeat for the right price .
 
I have a 2016 Ram 1500. Best riding truck I have ever owned. Highest mileage as well: 21-22 mpg on long trips.

Is that with the Hemi....I'm looking for a used 1500 Ram...2014-2016..need something to tow the 6000 lbs boat with. Even though the Durango with the V6 can do it...its time to upgrade.
 
Prior to my Ranger I used a Dodge Caravan. It could tow the boat and slide the yak in the back with the seats down and using one of those goalpost truck bed extenders. But I was always concerned I might need 4WD, although I surfcast by foot. as luck would have it, I never got a deer until 2010 when I "blooded" the Ranger with my first so never dirtied the mommy van with more than a fish. Choosing the right vehicle is like choosing a better half- they come in all shapes and sizes. My Ranger fits in between my porch and trailered boat. Being able to hose out fish scales or deer blood is a plus. Lousy mileage with the 6. Those jump seats in the back are useable but if a third person whines they can drive their own effing car and have been told just that. In 2010 it was the only pickup sold that made that squeeze. That said the idiots at Ford came out with a new Ranger this year, and of course, larger than it needed to be and too expensive for what it is, a medium size p/u. Hopefully my big boy toy lasts a little longer.

One of my coworkers just donated his to our non-profit here. Looks perfect from the outside, but you can lift the bed off the frame - it rusted at the connections. It's fine for running around campus, it doesn't have plates or need inspection.

Towed this from Virginia ~10k lbs
...... was no problem. The Hemi has a nice kick to it !

That was the old trailer ...... I trailered it north with the new Loadrite. That photo was taken at the Royal Farms station in Onley last May, after I left your place to head home.

I'd like a diesel for the mileage - but it adds a fair amount to the price. Don't have alot of spare cash right now. This is going to be a secondary vehicle not the primary one - that's the VW.

It's going to replace the Jeep.
