Russia is no longer the poor commie state.....it is wealthy with many billionaires who will hurt from this. Maybe it will work...maybe not...tyrants usually only back down after total defeat and their death....lets hope it doesn't go to that...but if needed and the only choice then thats what we will have.

Japan intended the attack as a preventive action. Its aim was to prevent the United States Pacific Fleet from interfering with its planned military actions in Southeast Asia against overseas territories of the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and those of the United States.

Sanctions only convinced the Japanese to attack.

I just hope our forces are on the ready and dont get caught with their pants down..............again. This time, the other side can launch a big one on us as well!

90% of Mariupol damaged, including theater where hundreds sheltered, official says: Live Ukraine updates​

Russian airstrikes ripped apart a theater in Mariupol that served as a makeshift shelter for hundreds of people, Ukrainian officials said Thursday.

The theater was bombed late Wednesday even though the word "CHILDREN" was laid out in giant letters in front of the building to protect it. The strikes left many civilians buried in the burning rubble, Ukraine’s foreign ministry said in a statement. There was no immediate word on how many people were killed or injured.

“After an awful night of not knowing, we finally have good news from Mariupol on the morning of the 22nd day of the war," former Donetsk regional official Sergei Taruta wrote on Facebook, according to CNN. "The bomb shelter (of the theater) was able to hold. The rubble is beginning to be cleared. People are coming out alive.”

A photo released by Mariupol’s city council showed an entire section of the vast, 3-story theater had collapsed after the strike. Residents had taken refuge in the building’s basement, seeking safety amid Russia’s 3-week, strangulating siege of the strategic Azov Sea port city.

Our hearts are broken by what Russia is doing to our people, to our Mariupol,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Vadim Denisenko, an adviser to the minister of Internal Affairs, said 90% of Mariupol city has been destroyed or damaged and that almost no buildings have been left untouched. Most of the 400,000 residents remain in the city, he said.

"Evacuation and rescue efforts remain extremely difficult due to constant Russian shelling," Denisenko said. "This is beyond a humanitarian disaster."

Almost everything about today's Volodymyr Zelensky speech would have been inconceivable on the day Russia invaded Ukraine.

The big picture: Zelensky is bursting through an era of peak cynicism.

Who would have expected...
  • Zelensky — unshaven, unbowed — to address Congress from Kyiv, when the city was supposed to fall in the initial days?
  • Zelensky to seize the bully pulpit, calling on the U.S. to behave like a superpower?
His speech evoked imagery of a youthful JFK, in his day the master of the new medium of TV, Axios politics editor Glen Johnson tells me.

  • Zelensky is 44, using cellphone cameras and Zoom.
  • Remember Pearl Harbor, the terrible morning of Dec. 7, 1941, when your sky was black from the planes attacking you,” Zelensky told a packed auditorium in the basement of the Capitol.
    • “Remember Sept. 11, a terrible day in 2001 when evil tried to turn your cities, independent territories, into battlefields. When innocent people were attacked from the air.”
    • "Our country is experiencing the same every day, right now, at this moment,” Zelensky said. “Every night for three weeks now ... Russia has turned the Ukrainian sky into a source of death for thousands of people."
    • Addressing Biden directly, Zelensky said, "I wish for you to be the leader of the world. Being the leader of the world means to be the leader of peace."
 
Read some of the comments. Always found it laughable when some call congresspersons “leaders.” Business execs, military officers and non-coms, governors, SACs, etc. that’s one thing. But unless some congress person had a real job earlier? Hell, even their office manager runs the staff. Rant over.

Misnomer for sure!
 
Yes, I have been watching BBC and especially Euronews and saw this earlier this morning. For those stuck with Altice, Euronews is channel 103 in my area (near Matzohpizza.) Seem to be much more objective than the talking heads on ALL of "our" MSM.
