The never ending chat thread, chat about anything That your up too

I’ve accidentally triggered the house alarm while checking my parents a few times and have had some large SCPD responses over the years ??
Well the night of my wedding, I woke to SCPD at the foot of my bed. My drunk friend thought it would be a good idea to get his phone at my house. Of course I locked everything but the sliding glass door. Well he set the alarm off, me nor Jenn never heard it. We also didn't hear the phone call from ADT. Mind you, we weren't even drunk. Just extremely tired from getting up at 4am. I've also had Jenn set the smoke alarm off, nothing worse then your own FD coming to the house. I was at work, for that ??

Having a single malt to ease the aches of a successful, late afternoon on the clam & oyster flats. I found the largest live oyster I've ever seen, 2nd photo. After photographing it, I returned it to the water in hopes it will continue a fecund run of repopulating the water. Float in 3rd photo is 5" long and 3.5" wide for a point of reference on Oysterzilla!!

just got down off the roof of my shed..................

I was installing solar powered motion lights (that I could do from the ladder) & then climbed up onto the roof to replace two sets of shingles & WD40 my fisherman weather vane (it's been moving kind of stiffly as of late - aren't we all?).

I never got to the shingles. The roof seemed steeper then the last time I was up there. Kept getting the feeling I was slipping even though I was pretty certain wasn't.

Virtigo?
I'm not sure.

What I was sure of was getting the hell down from there. Preferably without falling the 12 or 15 feet to the ground.

Getting off the roof & onto the ladder became kinda unnerving as well.

This has never happened to me before. Climbing up ladders onto roofs never bothered me....................

Think I'm getting too old to be prancing around rooftops. This'll have to be another job I farm out when the Payne Boys come to replace one side of the shed due to some rot I found while installing the motion lights on one side.

70 closing in on 71 is getting a bit hard to deal with.

A friend of mine (late 60's at the time) years ago would not listen to family or friends about cleaning the gutters. Wife came home and luckily found him before too much time passed and he survived. But not without permanent damage............................he landed on his head.

More recently, same scenario, except his wife was away from the home much longer and found the ladder on its side and a very cold body. Shattered their close knit family as he was a very healthy man in his 70's.

Be careful and ask others for help.

Before I retired a guy I worked with was putting up Christmas lights when the ladder fell with him on it. Broke his hip. Was out of work for 6 months & even today has to walk with a crutch. He was only in his early 50's.

He only fell from about 10 feet.

Perfect example of someone who should practice Yoga and breathing exercises

I have several friends who after many months and years of me asking began a Practice in their 60 & 70’s And wish they did it all their lives.

just show up , do it, breath , practice and get better every time.

Good Luck.
